Position Summary:
Head of Training is a mandatory post-holder position responsible to EASA for ensuring that training in the ATO is in compliance with the relevant requirements and that all professional pilot training is conducted safely and in accordance with the regulations. In this case, the HOT would focus solely on EASA activities and report to the Accountable Manager.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
The Head of Training is responsible for:
- Ensure that training is provided in compliance with the relevant regulations (EASA & CAA )
- Ensure the satisfactory integration of all flight training (conducted in aircraft or simulators) and the integration of theoretical knowledge instruction for all approved training courses
- Supervise the progress of individual students
- Creation, and revision of relevant ATO manuals and training courses, in compliance with the regulations
- Review change requests and assess the potential impact on safety and regulatory compliance stemming from any proposed changes
- Ensure personnel are suitably qualified for their role and that all training is conducted i.a.w. ORA.GEN.200(a)(4) and internal procedures by implementing a Management System that includes initial and ongoing staff training
- Overall responsibility for all training records, progress tracking and conducting periodic/sampling of records
- Recruitment and personnel management to ensure that the ratio of active full-time flight students to flight instructors does not exceed 5:1 per AMC1.ORA.ATO.210(e). Per AMC1.ORA.ATO.210(f), class numbers in ground subjects involving a high degree of supervision or practical work do exceed 20 students. If necessary, student enrolment is restricted
- Manage/provide oversight of contracted activities of the ATO, including appointment of suitable supervisors
- Support Compliance management by identifying root causes and providing timely CAPA resolution
- Support SMS, by participating in safety management activities and implementing safety recommendations, improvement suggestions, risk assessments and Management of Change, etc
- Ensure all staff under his supervision are aware of their responsibility to safety
- Liaise with external organizations and in particular with the Competent Authority, as applicable
QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE REQUIRED
1. Minimum Education and Qualifications::
- Hold an EASA Commercial Pilot License and an EASA Flight Instructor or Type Rating Instructor or Synthetic Flight Instructor certificate.
2. Other preferred qualification:
- Certified Examiner
- UPRT rating
- IR Instructor ( IRT )
3. Minimum Experience:
- 5 years’ working experience in aviation industry, from which;
- 4 years’ working experience in civil aviation training sector, from which;
- 2 years’ experience in an aviation-related supervisory training role.
4. Minimum Flying Hours:
- 2,000 hours total time; and
- 1,200 hours Instructor time.
